FAQ’s
What is your refund policy?
ALL CLASSES AND SERVICES including 6 week pottery classes, date nights, private lessons, memberships, workshops, kiln firings, tools, pottery materials, and practice times are nonrefundable. This also includes any new class offerings added to the website not listed in this policy.
What is your return policy on pottery?
All pots are final sale. If a pot breaks in transit, please email me and I will do my best to accommodate you by either sending you a similar piece or making you a new one.
Is Pottery dishwasher and microwave safe?
Yes, however I recommend hand washing to preserve the life of your pottery. Be aware that ceramics become extremely hot in the microwave.
Do you offer Private Lessons or Workshops?
Yes, workshops are offered intermittently throughout each season- the best place to learn more about that is my instagram @Katylaneclay. Private lessons are always available on my website.

Do you offer make up classes?
No make up classes are available at this time.
Is experience required to attend a class?
There are a wide variety of skill levels at The Center. If you have never taken a pottery class before, I recommend starting in my Ceramic Fundamentals class, which requires no prior experience. It is not recommended that you sign up for a higher level of class without having taken a fundamentals class with me.
Can I bring my own clay and glaze?
All clay must be purchased through The Center. Glaze can be purchased elsewhere on a case by case basis upon approval from Katy at The Center.
Do you offer memberships?
Yes. Students who have taken at least three classes at The Center have the option of signing up for a membership. Members are welcome to come and practice during open studio hours. NOTE: memberships are not instructional, and require an independent approach to making. If you are interested in a class format, please take an 8 week class instead.
Can I bring a friend to practice time?
You are welcome to bring a friend to practice time with the purchase of a guest pass. They are welcome to make things using your materials. Please be aware that current students have priority on the wheels and your friend may not get to use a wheel during their visit.
What is the address of center pottery studio?
Upon signing up for a class at The Center, you will receive a welcome email with all details regarding location, what to expect, and parking information. The Center is located at a private residence and the address is therefor unlisted. Please be sure to include your email address at checkout to receive this information.
When do i get to pick up my pottery from a date night or 8 week class?
Pottery takes about a month to dry and process. If you create something at a date night, you can expect a message regarding pick up within a month of creating your piece. 8 week class-work is fired regularly and is generally taken home during the 8 week period. If any of your creations are unfired by the 8th week of class, you will be contacted to return to pick up the pot within a month of class ending.
Can I bring pets/kids to the studio?
Children over the age of 7 are permitted for private lessons only. Please communicate the age of your child before bringing them to a lesson. Please leave your pets at home for their safety.
Can i bring a beverage or snack for my date night or pottery class?
Absolutely! There is a community fridge at The Center that you are welcome to store your champagne, seltzer, watermelon, or whatever else you choose to snack on during your special event or class.
Anything else I should know before attending a class?
There is no public bathroom at The Center so please be sure to relieve yourself before arriving. In case of emergencies there is a Starbucks up the road. There is also no heat or air conditioning so be sure to dress according to the weather. And finally, wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy!
